Roy Zimmerman

I just heard Roy Zimmerman on WMPG's Us Folk. I've favorited him on Youtube and will probably waste the next hour checking out his videos. Here's one:

(Not a) Song for Ike Turner

This song calls for electric guitar, but I can't seem to coordinate the technology and the time to record, so here's an acoustic "rehearsal" movie until I can Garageband it sometime. The reference to Bentley's Roadhouse and the Lower Village People near the end of the song is a tribute to my friend Andy's band. Bentley's is on Route One in Arundel.

The Stringrays

Meg and I went out to Rafters while we were down at St. Simon's Island, and heard the Stringrays play. They had a different drummer -- a sub, Meg speculated -- and this cool sax player featured in this clip wasn't part of the band, but I got a kick out of finding this when I got home. I love this song (have been practicing it on guitar a little lately), and the sax also evokes our other musical outing of the vacation, the Army Jazz Ambassadors in Brunswick.

Fort Mountain Breakdown

I made this video from Tom Martin's shots a couple years ago, with a soundtrack that I created in GarageBand.

The Receders

I was looking at the OneTallMomma blog, just to see if Ashley really had stopped keeping it up, and another guy named Jeff had posted a comment, so I followed his link and read some of his stuff, which led me to his band, the Receders and some of their performances on youtube. Here's one:

Love, Music, and Alcohol

This is my most-recently-written song, in a wishful performance with a costume and some props.

(Workin' on a) Cure for Cancer

This one is for Hutch by request.

Grace Potter and the Nocturnals

One of my recent musical enthusiasms is Grace Potter and the Nocturnals. I got turned on to them by this blog post, which says why better than I could.
I hunted down a picture that portrays Grace Potter's Rock'n'Roll hotness, what with the Flying Vee and all.
Here's a cool youtube clip:

There's another clip of them playing the Portland Alive at Five concert a couple summers ago, but it has all the flaws of the venue (people talking all around you, sound bouncing from every direction, lots of distractions).
Anyway, continuing to play with the possibilities of blogger, I just tried to embed the actual live show OneTallMomma went to, found on the internet archive, but it didn't work, so just click here and go listen to it.

Beer Goggle Blues

Here's a movie with my song as a soundtrack:

Black Jack Rackham

This week I'm working on recording my performances, and posting them in a way that I can embed them here. Today I've put two videos on Youtube: one a straightforward performance, the other uses a GarageBand-created track as soundtrack to images found on the net.
Here's the first, my pirate song, "Black Jack Rackham"
